Swings and roundabouts
A situation where each option has apparently similar advantages and disadvantages making it difficult to choose.
e.g. If I travel to my meeting on Monday morning, it will take three hours’ driving through busy traffic after getting up very early. If I go on Sunday night it will take an hour but I would have to stay away from home for the night. It’s swings and roundabouts.
The fuller version of the idiom is: what you gain on the swings you lose on the roundabout.
